Amy messaged me on a day and told me she needed pictures done rather quickly, i.e., the same week/weekend. I don't usually take on a branding shoot that quickly because it takes a bit of time to plan out hair & make-up, wardrobe, and the style of the shoot, but since I have known Amy for some time, we went ahead and whip up a session.
On the day of the shoot, I remember the first thing we talked about after greeting each other was about the first case of Covid-19 in Ottawa. Little did I know that because of that, it will be a long time after the shoot before I get to see Amy again. I still haven't met her in person since.
We went into the studio and put on some music and started to pick outfits from what she brought. She told me she was nervous. As an experienced Toastmaster, she might be nervous, but her facial expression didn't exhibit any signs of nervousness. Minutes into the shoot, she started making me laugh with her goofiness. I thought, "This is so great. I don't have to do anything goofy to make her laugh. She is herself."
If you have ever spoken to Amy, you would find her choices of words are very eloquent yet uniquely different. You would almost wonder where she grew up or where she was truly from, if she didn't have a North American accent. The intelligence of this person was absolutely shown through how she conveyed her points and messages, yet she downplayed it so much.
Well, you can tell who she is by the images she had chosen from the gallery. She likes the relaxed and approachable look instead of the power poses, which could display the "I'm the boss" look. Then you have a bunch of goofy outtakes which we absolutely love. This is the first time I posted outtakes on my blog or anywhere, but I am thinking of doing it more often. They display the multifaceted sides of the client instead of a single look. This is also why branding is so much fun, it goes beyond a headshot and I get to watch Amy do her Amy thing.
